One new puzzle a day. The date is the seed, so everyone who arrives that day solves the same puzzle. The difficulty is fixed at Hard — far enough that naked singles alone won't finish it, close enough that following the hints will.

The record lives in this browser only
A filled square means you finished that day's puzzle. Nothing is sent to a server, so it won't show up on your other devices, and clearing site data clears it. For the same reason there is no leaderboard to compare against.
Past dates open too — press one and that day's puzzle loads. The last 400 days are kept and anything older is dropped.
The streak counts only what you solved that day
You can open and solve a past date, but the calendar won't fill in and the streak won't extend. If yesterday's square could be earned today, the streak would stop meaning anything. Treat older puzzles as practice.
A broken streak can't be revived, but your longest run stays. It sits there until something longer replaces it.
Solving the same puzzle with someone else
Every daily puzzle carries a puzzle number. Pass the number along and the other person opens the very same grid, so you can compare times or talk about where you got stuck. “Copy link” under the board builds an address that carries the number.
When asking about a spot, naming the row and column is quickest. Selecting a cell on screen reads its position out, and a screen reader announces it the same way.
